Tomorrow is Mother's Day - Hi Mom, thanks for everything!
This is the day we set aside to say thank you to the most special person, Mom. It is a nice idea on the surface, but does it really do the trick. Why do we wait until that one day to express to our Mother's all that she means to us. I think we should be doing that 365.
But why stop there. What about our Fathers. What about all the rest of the family and friends that have made a difference in our lives.
In fact, why not be grateful for everyone and every thing in our life.
Every have one of those days where things just don’t go right. You get into a slump of being upset and feeling sorry for yourself. Next time that happens, snap out of it. Don't allow yourself the luxury of self-pity.
Instead, make a list all the things that you can find to be grateful for. It may be something that you have, or something that has happened to you, or it may be something that you don't have. Be creative, be thankful and be happy.
It is really difficult to feel bad and down in the dumps when you are full of gratitude. You only have room in you heart and mind for one or the other, not both at the same time.
In light of this concept and also in honour of tomorrow being such a special day, I am issuing a challenge to the world. From this day forth, and every day for the following year, I am going come to my blog and make a list of 5 things I am happy for in that day.
I want you to take up the challenge in your own life and join me. Therefore, starting March 9th, 2010, I declare as the first day of The Year of Living Gratefully (YoLG) Challenge.
Come to my blog and comment on my day to day journey into the heart of Gratitude. Comment on my blog as to what your own list of Gratitude items are. Cheer me and others on. Start your own blog to display your gratitude victories. Remember, list 5 things you are grateful for in that day. Try to avoid repeating the same thing twice in a row. That would be cheating.
Contact me with whatever you are planning to do in order to celebrate A Year of Living Gratefully, and I will post it on my blog, along with any links. (donna.hedley@sympatico.ca) Spread the word, forward this post, talk to others. Together, we can help the world be a better place by being and example.
I am officially kicking off A Year of Living Gratefully on March 9th, but you can kick off your own YoLG any time. No matter what time of year it is, no matter where on the planet, stand up and Pledge that :
Today, and every day this year, I __________ [Enter your name] am going to live with a heart full of Gratitude and Joy. I will find the beauty in every aspect of my life, even if I have to make it up. I will learn to learn the lesson, find the bliss, spread the joy with everything and everyone in my world. I will Live this year full of Gratitude and Joy.
Every day from this day forth, I will list 5 things that I am grateful for.
