Think Positive?

There has been much written and said about the power of positive thought. Some extol its virtues, while others say that you can't just think yourself to fame, fortune and happiness. These people look down their noses at such concepts, stating that you can’t just think yourself out of problems, or that "Self Help", especially Positive Thinking is bunk, the haven for con artists and other nasty characters.

When all is said and done, you are what you think, and only you can decide what that is. Positive thinking will not magically solve your problems. It is only the first step. In order for it to work, you must take action. Let it inspire you to take the necessary actions to achieve your goals.

Whatever you situation, you need to be realistic. Some things may just be beyond your grasp. Being positive means looking honestly at your life and finding the good, no matter how bad. It is finding ways to deal with the pain that is sure to come your way.

Norman Vincent Peale made his mark by preaching the Power of Positively. He is best known for his book "The Power ofPositive Thinking". Though some people think that this book teaches you to just ignore the evil of the world, think happy thoughts and pretend it’s not there; this is far fromthe true. Instead, Peale says that he wrote the book, 'with deep concern for the pain, difficulty and struggle of human existence. '

It’s so easy to get caught up in negative thinking. You see the news and hear all of the horrible and stupid things people are doing to themselves and to each others, and you want to scream. But by trying to create some sort of meaning out of all the mess, by focusing on the wonderful that is in our lives, by training our thoughts to see the possible, not just the pain, and taking action, we can rise above it. I am positive you will do great things with your life, if you choose.
